Queen's Case Competition 2012
Gold stream winners from QCC 2011
Queen’s Case Competition (QCC)
Queen’s School of Business and the I.C.B.C. Executive are pleased to announce the 4th annual Queen’s Case Competition (QCC). This internal case competition is open to Commerce students in first through final years of the program.
QCC has a dual purpose: to present an opportunity for students to compete in a case competition, and to serve as part of the qualifying process to represent Queen’s at the Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (I.C.B.C.), Canada’s most respected case competition. It is also an excellent opportunity to improve your case analysis and presentation skills through workshops and rounds of cases.
QCC will take place on the evening of Friday, September 21, 2012 and during the day on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Goodes Hall. First, second, third and fourth year Commerce students are invited to apply to participate in the competition.
On Friday evening, the event includes ses
sions with experienced industry and academic leaders. On Saturday, there will be one (first year students) or two (upper year students) rounds of cases which will be general strategic cases covering many areas of business. Students will have 15 minutes to present the solution which will be judged by Queen’s faculty, alumni, senior staff, and sponsor representatives. Winners will be announced at the Final Gala on Saturday evening.
Students can be considered for both I.C.B.C. and for an external competition, but students must compete at QCC in order to be considered for space on an I.C.B.C. team. Students will be asked about their interest in I.C.B.C. following QCC. The Selection Committee will inform students if they have been selected for an I.C.B.C. shortly thereafter.
We encourage students to participate in QCC to gain experience for an external case competition as well. However, participation in QCC is not required in order to be considered for an external competition.
Queen’s Commerce will focus on a number of elite competitions throughout the year. These will be international competitions that include top business schools and will be general strategy in focus.
Please see the the External Case Competition tab on this webpage for a listing of current and past competitions. The 2012/2013 listing will be updated throughout the year as new case competitions are announced. Please check the Commerce portal for case competition announcements and details for applying.
Applications for QCC are available under the Online Application tab on the QCC page in on the Commerce Portal, under the Case Competition tab. You may indicate a desire to be considered for external competitions and I.C.B.C. on that page. There will be an opportunity to express interest/apply for external competitions before the Selection Committee meets for each competition. This will be posted to the Commerce portal.
The completed On-line Application Form, including the 250 word statement and resume, must be submitted by the deadline for consideration for participation in the event. Late entries will not be accepted.
